Are you facing temptations or trials? Endure & rely on Christ.
“God doesn’t give us what we can handle, He helps us handle what we are given,” Ronda J. Thomas-Frost. He wants to help us endure through our hardships.
I so often hear it said in reference to the trials others are facing, “God won’t give you more than you can handle.” But that’s not Bible.
It’s actually a misquote of 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
He won’t allow us more TEMPTATION than we can handle, but trials are a different story.
Paul says in 2 Corinthians 1: 8 & 9 “We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia.
We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.”
Paul was a great man of God. And He was distressed to the point of death! Jesus Himself, in His darkest moments before He was betrayed said, “Now my soul is greatly distressed. And what should I say? ‘Father, deliver me from this hour’? No, but for this very reason I have come to this hour.” John 12:27 & Mark 14:34 “‘My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,’ he said to them.” Then He went away and prayed, “Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him.” Mark 14:35
Are you facing trials? You’re in good company. What God desires, through our trials, is for us to rely on Him! He wants us to endure with His help and allow Him to make us stronger. Seek Him, and let Him hold you. He loves you so much. He sent His only Son to suffer beyond all suffering so you could have relationship with Him. He will help you. He will guide you. He holds you by the hand and says, “Fear not, for I am with You.” Isaiah 41:13
